The smallmouth bass fishing is rated as world class. These bronze beauties will offer you some of the most spectacular action to be found anywhere. The excellent walleye fishing has always been a drawing point to the area. Northern pike are found in most lakes and the area holds the state record for this species. Lake trout are found in many of the glacial-carved lakes and provide some early and late summer action. These species, as well as others, make for some of the best variety of freshwater fishing in the world.

Fishing gear should consist of light to medium action rods equipped with 6-12 lb. test line. For those of you in search of some of our monster northern pike, medium gear with 10-15 lb. test works well. Lead head jigs, floating jigs, and hook/sinker rigs all work well for the very productive live bait fishing. Artificials such as topwater baits, crank baits, spoons, and spinners are also effective.
